I was staring at my new house amazed by the space and feeling of being welcomed. I unlocked the door to be surprised that the movers did indeed unpack all my furniture, and place it in the correct rooms. I set foot in my new breathtaking house hearing my own footsteps on the polished timber floor. It was soon to be evening, as I was finishing cleaning my bedroom. When I finished cleaning the bedroom, I jumped onto my bed and soon fell asleep in my dark, comfortable room. I woke up the next morning I stared out from each window seeing a different view of different places. It wasn’t the same view I saw yesterday. Being in the 21st century my first thought was technology. There has to be someone else who experienced it right? Unfortunately, there wasn’t anyone that could relate. So I opened google maps and found I was in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. However, each window had a different attraction from different countries. I sat at my desk staring at the screen to see if technology had failed me, in a dream or just going crazy. I remember exactly walking into the house in Exmouth, WA (Western Australia) now I am staring out the window at a completely new world, city or universe, I am completely lost. What house have I bought? I sprinted down the stairs and roughly opened the door to be welcomed by…

Expectations of commenting

Hey, as of this blog I’ll be doing the fact of the blog. Instead of fact of the week it only happens at the start of my blogs, the facts you are going to read in my next few blogs are random there is no meaning behind which fact I chose unless there is something I can relate it to. So let’s properly begin my blog.

Did you know that Pteronophobia is the fear of being tickled by feathers!

In this blog I will be explaining what I expect for the people who want to post comments on my blog. My expectations should be followed or at least considered. I’m taking part in the “Student Blogging Challenge” the student blogging challenge is when writers from everywhere compete with writing the best quality blogs.

First, nice and positive.

Being nice online helps everyone be in a happier place and free from negativity. This also helps the writers of the blogs by knowing that the readers appreciate what the blogger is writing about.

Secondly, spelling and punctuation.

Now I know personally that I am not the best speller or have great punctuation. So I don’t expect people to have perfect sentences but sentences that I can understand. Try your hardest to get the spelling or punctuation correct, if you can’t I won’t blame you just try harder. However if you are a fabulous speller and perfect punctuation maybe help the people who aren’t as confident help them with nice and encouraging words.

Next, is privacy.

Only post without any personal information. Posting without personal information helps you to be safe on the internet. Don’t leave what your routine is or where you play sports or music. Stay away from released

Lastly, relation to the blog

leave a comment about something that is related to the blog. Use proper sentences instead of u for you and are as r. Yes it’s easier and saves way more time but using proper sentences makes your comment look professional and intelligent. Having the comment related to the text helps stay on task and the comment section to be tamed.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and hopefully the comments will be followed by these expectations.

Do you have expectations for commenting if so are they the same as mine or different?

Netiquette

Hello again, in this blog I will be explaining the rules of netiquette that I promise to do and what netiquette is. Netiquette is a list of rules that we follow online, it’s basically the way we act online. I’m going to list the rules with a small explanation.

  1. If I quote someone I need to link or address their name.
  2. Be respectful to those who disagree with me.
  3. Respect others privacy
  4. Remember the human
  5. Avoid sarcasm

My reasoning for number 1. is to avoid plagiarising someone else’s work, 2. Not everyone will agree with what I am saying, 3. respecting others privacy to keep their private lives separate to their professional lives, 4. the human means how would you feel is someone is saying that to your face and finally 5. avoid sarcasm so people don’t read the text and take it the wrong way. Try and avoid sarcasm because not everyone knows your personality and reads it the same way. It is important to use netiquette rules online so everyone can feel safe and respected. If you want an idea of Netiquette this is a link to a video about it.

#GameOn

“People need to realize bullying has just as much of an impact online because words are so cutting and difficult to deal with.” Bridgit Mendler

During IT (information technology) we were told to watch a video called #GameOn. During the video it showed young teenagers having difficulty online. I took three main points which are cyberbullying, being addicted to games and that nothing is free online.

Cyberbullying is basically bullying but online, not speaking to that person face to face. The cyberbullying in the video is showing a friend being upset because Grace posted bad photos of her on the internet. Grace stated that she didn’t do it. They ended up finding out that it was one of their friends that grace shared her password with. This means only tell your password to yourself and not others, this could have caused bad friendships and other people getting in trouble for the actions that they didn’t do.

Another point I took was being addicted to games. Games can be so addicting you isolate yourself from your friends and the real world. In the #GameOn video it shows a boy not doing his chores and falling asleep during class. This made the teacher call his aunt to fix the problem they talked about the problem and the result was him only using the game for a certain amount of time and then going for a ride with his friends and his chores are complete and being social.

Nothing is free, a young teenager on #GameOn was downloading sounds that were for free. He continued to download the sounds and later figuring out it actually cost him money each time he downloaded it. Always check when you have a game that you think is too good to be true. If you’re unsure and want to waste some time here is the link to the #GameOn video.

#GameOn has many warning signs before the action like how the sounds was to good and for free, people being upset about being bullied and people trying to cover up their actions and being addicted to game. However cyberbullying is sometimes hard to stop when it has gone too far, so telling someone when it starts is always better than being hurt worse when it has gotten too far. As I have said in a previous blog use the internet responsibly and it would be a safer place.

Advantages and disadvantages of the internet

The Internet

As my first blog will be explaining the advantages and disadvantages of the internet. Without internet there wouldn’t be any social media or ways to research. Those are just a few examples however of the much loved and known internet.

Some advantages of the internet are researching for school assignments and for entertainment usage. In my opinion without internet, life for myself would be difficult. My life is basically on my electronics on social media, It’s a way of connecting. Without the internet there wouldn’t be ways to connect to friends and family that may live far away.

The internet is also used for jobs and advertisements to enhance their businesses. Also online shopping for those who don’t have time to go grocery shopping or people who may have disabilities or just lazy. This gives those people an opportunity to buy the items they need or want without actually leaving the house.

In this case the disadvantages are, virus can spread from the internet, scams and catfishing. The internet can also have cyberbullies. This can lead to identities being taken and privacy issues. Everyone needs privacy and safety but when there is a chance of being hacked how can you be sure you’re safe.

Another disadvantage is isolation from the real world. Yes, you’re socialising but have you met them spoken to them face to face? One more disadvantage is the internet can be untrustworthy the internet can break down or will not work. If you’re doing an assignment and the internet breaks down then you’ll need to find another way to get the information.

To sum this blog up, in my opinion the internet can be a safe place if you use it responsibly. The internet is great but remember the disadvantages that they can happen. Always tell someone if you think something isn’t right on your devices and internet. If one person can act responsible online that’s already making the internet a safer place.
